AGSA : Art Graduate Student Association of the University of Kentucky
Karine has been their Vice President from 2006 to 2008.
Karine and her partner, Matthew Maynard, live outside of Lexington. Mr. Maynard is an established
contemporary blacksmith focusing on interior architectural commissions. They often work collaboratively on
large pieces.

Ms. Wilson & Mr. Maynard recently completed an interactive installation designed to be human powered and
move very slow (in only flat, open spaces). It emits large bursts of flame which can be seen best by dim light,
and has an interior lighting system which illuminates the ground beneath it. To further their sense of history
and place, "The Contraption" was made of re-claimed materials, with the exception of the hand forged
fly-wheel, the parts were claimed from expired farm implements which had been left to rust in the hills of
Central Kentucky. It cannot be maneuvered alone and is suited best for a team of five to seven people. It has
it's own unique hand pump, gear, reverse, brake and steering system.
